Handoperation - instructions after
Instructions for treatment of your hand after the operation
- You must support your hand in a sling for two days.
- You must not wash your hand until the bandages are removed.
- You may take off the bandage yourself after five days.
- Now you can wash your hand again and you may also take a shower.
- After washing your hand or showering, you should put either a plaster or a gauze dressing on the scar.
- You were given an elasticated glove after the operation to be used when the bandage was removed. You can wear this over the plaster or dressing.
- In order to protect the scar, you must put on a clean plaster or dressing on the scar every day.
- You have been given an appointment at the Plastic Surgery Outpatients Department to have your stitches removed.
