Nursing ward
The delivery rooms and the obstetrics, gynaecology and paediatric wards are located on the 5th floor.
Training
Obstetrics/Gynaecology has many fields of training. In close collaboration with the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC) they organise the training for general doctors, doctors of infectious diseases and gynaecologists. Dr. C.A.G. Holleboom leads the training.
More information
The Information and Documentation Office (Bureau Documentatie en Voorlichting), located in the Central Hall of the hospital, has more information about diseases and patient organisations.
Outpatient Treatment Centre
The outpatient clinic has a treatment centre for outpatient procedures. Here, small gynaecological procedures are performed in a patient-friendly and efficient manner. This is also where outpatient observation and diagnosis during pregnancy take place.
Specialised nurses staff the Outpatient Treatment Centre.
Fertility
This encompasses all fertility problems. After extensive diagnostics, the treatment may consist of ovulation induction, insemination and IVF. The IVF is conducted in collaboration with the LUMC. The treatment is offered by zijn Dr J.P.T. Rhemrev, Dr C.A.G. Holleboom, S. Nienhuis and T. Lo.
Perinatology
Dr. W.J. van Wijngaarden, Dr. C.A.G. Holleboom and K.E. Boers specialise in the treatment and management of serious complications during pregnancy, delivery and confinement.
Pelvic Floor Problems
Pelvic Floor problems in gynaecology include a prolapsed uterus and/or vagina and incontinence. The gynaecologists H.T.C. Nagel, E.H. Witte and M.J.G.H. Smeets treat the whole spectrum of pelvic floor problems in close collaboration with surgeons, urologists and physiotherapists.
Minimally invasive surgery
Minimally invasive surgery refers to keyhole surgery in which benign growths are removed from the reproductive organs. This involves the use of the latest operating techniques. Procedures can be performed abdominally, laparoscopically, or vaginally – the hysteroscopy.
By operating laparoscopically, admission time in hospital is reduced by several days. Furthermore, recovery from the procedure occurs more quickly.
The hysteroscopy can be performed in the outpatient treatment centre.
M.J.G.H. Smeets en Dr. J.P.T. Rhemrev are specialised in minimally invasive surgery.
Oncology
Dr. H.T.C.Nagel and H.M.P. Pelikan specialises in gynaecological oncology. Multidisciplinary collaboration in the oncological field goes without saying in Bronovo Hospital. Furthermore, the gynaecology department works closely with the LUMC in the diagnosis and treatment of gynaecological cancer.
Ultrasound
Dr. W.J. van Wijngaarden is head of the ultrasound department. The department employs a number of ultrasound technicians and doctors in the outpatient clinic. Ultrasound has a prominent role, with 5 ultrasound rooms. In this way we can meet the growing demand for ultrasound diagnostics in both gynaecology and obstetrics.
Prenatal diagnostics
Prenatal diagnostics is an examination of the unborn child. This is made possible by extensive ultrasound or by chorionic villus sampling or amniocentesis. Your gynaecologists will discuss the options with you.
