Delivery Rooms
Bronovo Hospital has a modern delivery room complex with six delivery rooms. All rooms are equipped with a comfortable delivery bed, toilet, telephone and radio/cd player. Most rooms also have shower facilities. The delivery rooms are staffed by specialised nurses and nurses training for this specialisation. They work together with obstetricians, gynaecologists, residents, interns and trainee obstetricians.
Over 2000 deliveries take place annually at Bronovo Hospital.
How to get to the delivery room?
The delivery rooms are located on the 5th floor of the hospital. Bring a 2 Euro coin with you in case you need to use a wheelchair. If you come to the hospital after 21.00 hours in the evening, you should come to the night entrance 'Nachtingang'. This can be found by using the road off the Bronovolaan to the Spoedeisende Hulp (Accident and Emergency).
Be careful not to park your car in any of the invalid parking slots as you would run the risk of a parking fine.
Wheelchairs are available just inside the night entrance.
What should you bring?
The most important things that you will need for the delivery and pending motherhood:
- 1 or 2 short night dresses or T-shirts to deliver in
- a pair of warm socks
- sufficient (loose fitting) underpants (take into account the large maternity bandages)
- a night dress or pyjama for after the delivery
- toiletries such as shower gel, tooth brush and tooth paste
- a pair of slippers
- a dressing gown
- camera with sufficient film/memory (batteries if necessary)
- list of important telephone numbers
For the baby:
- several shirts or rompers
- two baby grows or pants with sweater
- two cotton hats
- a jacket or thick vest with hat
- an approved Maxi-cosi (car seat for infants)
Please make sure that everything you bring for the delivery fits into an overnight bag or small suitcase. The Maxi-cosi may be left in the car until after the delivery.
The delivery
Upon arrival at the delivery rooms, we aim to immediately give you the room in which you will stay until after the delivery. You will stay in the delivery room for about two hours after your delivery. In these two hours you will receive the traditional Dutch “beschuit met muisjes” (crisp bread with a sweet topping in pink or blue) and you will receive help with feeding your baby for the first time. You will then be given assistance to shower or be washed in bed. Thereafter, depending on your condition, you will go home or to the maternity ward.

Visiting hours
The delivery rooms have no set visiting hours. The partner is welcome at all times. Any other visitors are allowed only after your approval and that of the nurse caring for you.
