Tuesday evening consultations in Bronovo Hospital

After a successful trial period in 2008, Bronovo Hospital is now open for consultations on Tuesday evenings, in order to meet patients’ wishes to come to the Outpatients’ Department outside normal working hours.

The following specialist clinics will be open on Tuesday evenings from 18.00 to 21.00 hours: Surgery, Dental Surgery, Orthopaedics, Pulmonology, Neurology, Gynaecology and Midwifery. Other specialist clinics will follow in due course.

In addition, the "Bloods" Laboratory is open from 07.30 to 20.30 hours. Patients, who have a request from their Fay doctor (G.P.) or a specialist for a laboratory test, can also come on Tuesday evenings.

"The advantages of the evening consultations are clear" according to Natasja Plasmeijer, Care Manager in Bronovo Hospital. "Patients were delighted to be able to make appointments after normal working hours. For instance, during a pregnancy, it is much easier for a partner to come as well to an appointment with the gynaecologist or the midwife. It also appeared that patients who depended on transport by their children or other family members came in the evening surgeries. Another advantage is that, during the evenings, there is much less road traffic and more space in the hospital’s own car park. The test period has shown that there is a real demand for evening surgeries and, for the hospital, it is more efficient to concentrate these extended opening times on one evening. In such a way, we have created a "win-win" situation."

The Pulmonology and Neurology clinics will begin their evening surgeries at the end of April, 2009; patients can already make appointments for these clinics. Information will follow on the opening times of other clinics on Tuesday evenings or check our website.

To make an appointment, patients can contact the clinic concerned.
